Web Guiding for Every Degree of Processing

The way in which the production line is best arranged, depends on the degree of processing of the web: - Untreated webs are exclusively adjustable on the basis of the web edge or web center-line, because no additional contrast characteristics exist on the web itself. - In contrast, finished webs offer more options on sensory position monitoring, such as through printed lines or freely selectable contrasts.

In the web edge guiding, the control takes place dependent on the left or right web edge, via an edge sensor. Two edge sensors include the position of the middle of the web as the basis for the position adjustment for the web center-line guiding. Contrast management procedures orient themselves on solid or broken printed lines or a contrast edge.

Ultrasonic Sensors

BST eltromat ultrasonic sensors scan the web edge touch-free with ultrasonic waves. They are not sensitive to dirt and variations in material transparency and are versatilely implementable, such as for materials with dust-like deposits, high transparency foils, foils with changing transparency, and materials that are sensitive to light.

Optical Sensors

In optical sensors, the scanning of the web edge is touch-free, via light. It is best suitable for implementation on transparent, non-transparent, and thick materials. The sensors are resistant to foreign influences and work uninfluenced by height fluctuations in the material web in the measurement light path.

CLS Pro 600

The BST eltromat CLS Pro 600 sensor precisely scans lines, print edges, or web edges with color sensors and works extremely reliably, even at high web speeds. Its areas of implementation include the guiding of contrast edges, web edges, and printed lines.


In digital sensors like the CCD CAM 100, the scanning of the material web takes place by capturing contrasts in light. This BST eltromat sensor can recognize up to eight contrast transitions.


BST eltromat offers "Wide Array" edge sensors, which feature large detection ranges and also dynamically compensate various environmental factors. By this web widths can be changed on the fly, eliminating the need to physically reposition edge detectors.
